Artist Statement on Painterly Mixed Media
I capture people, places, and things that inspire some sort of emotion in me. Whether it is the fun Uncle with an Uncle Sam hat or a peaceful church, the emotions are conveyed in my mixed media paintings. With a variety of subjects from buildings to fruit to rock stars and lots in between, the paintings are full of vibrant colors on a textured background.
HEARTS

“To be kind is more important than to be right. Many times, what people need is not a brilliant mind that speaks but a heart that listens.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald
Oh my heart 🙂
I have loved painting these – I am sure there will be more. So fun.

“Pity me that the heart is slow to learn what the swift mind beholds at every turn.” Edna St. Vincent Millay

“Long ago, men went to sea, and women waited for them, standing on the edge of the water scanning the horizon for the tiny ship. Now I wait for Henry. He vanishes unwillingly, without warning. I wait for him. Each moment is as slow and transparent as glass. Through each moment I can see infinite moments lined up, waiting. Why has he gone where I cannot follow?” Audrey Neffenegger, The Time Traveler’s Wife

“Her heart sank into her shoes as she realized at last how much she wanted him. No matter what his past was, no matter what he had done. Which was not to say that she would ever let him know, but only that he moved her chemically more than anyone she had ever met, that all other men seemed pale beside him.”
– F. Scott Fitzgerald “A New Leaf”

“I love you, even if there isn’t any me, isnt any love, or even any life. I love you” – Zelda Fitzgerald

“I want to know you moved and breathed in the same world wth me.” F. Scott Fitzgerald
PROHIBITION SERIES

Flappers – Prohibition Series
March 25, 2019
I spent part of this weekend planning the rest of my Prohibition series. There will be 14 paintings in all (including one set of 9 6×6 (two of which are already done and posted here), one triptych of the vague flappers featured here dancing the night away, and various other musicians, scenes, and 1920’s fun.
I thoroughly enjoyed researching some 1920’s era photographs for these pieces. After planning, I did get the canvases prepped and the flappers basic placement blocked in. Sooo fun!!! Stay tuned!
